Here we go again...
I've decided not to take down the old posts as they provide a great kind of reminder as far as how I've slipped up in the past.
Anyone who's ever wanted to write knows how easy to is to put it off. NaNoWriMo was created pretty much as a way to conquer that. And you know what? The one year I tried it I quit on that too. I think the main roadblock I've hit for the longest time is that I know these characters, who they are and what they are about, but whenever I try to get an actual story moving I'm not sure where to go.
I watched Hancock
last week. My main feeling coming out of that movie was "Someone had a really great idea... and didn't know how to execute it at all." My fear is that this is also my problem. There's a column that occurs on a comic book blog I read called "Storytelling Engines" where the blogger examines tv, movie, book and comic series and defines their storytelling engines, and how sometimes these things can get off track and that's often why a good show/movie/book series goes bad. I don't think I have my storytelling engine yet. So that's my first goal. Take another good look at these characters and decide what's the best coarse of action on how to keep them moving forward through various story archs again and again. OR, get one big predominating story arch and see it through to its completion.
When I start to get these pieces together, I'll also start looking for an artist. It's a long journey ahead, but as long as I don't push it aside and ignore it, I know I can get there. Current Mood: contemplative

I've now changed the entry that contains the link to the story as a Friends only entry. Maybe not a single soul has downloaded and even looked at it, as far as I know, but I've decided I don't like the idea of it being out there so easy to reach for anyone to copy and try to claim as they please.
I know this makes it a bit harder to get to, but I figure its probably only a select few who are really that interested anyway. All you will have to do to see the story is this:
1. Create an lj account, unless you already have one.
2. Go to this community's userinfo and click on the link to join the community.
That's it. After joining make sure you're logged in, come back to this page, and you'll see the link among the older entries.

Despite what I said, I did in fact find time to update the story at least. You can read the latest version at the link in the old post below.

I am currently in the middle of getting ready to move, so this website as well as the story are mostly on hold until the end of February.
Thanks for being patient. Current Mood: busy

All the supporting characters' profile pages are up. You'll get a little more info there than you can out of the current story.
|Tuesday, January 4th, 2005|
All the main characters now have profile pages that should be up and working. If I ever say something is working and it isn't, please comment and let me know.
There's a poll on the main page as I'm trying to gather some opinions on it all, and I also put a counter which will help me track usage statistics.
A more pleasing layout is in development, probably with frames. Stay tuned.

A small update, but worth checking out
I fixed a spelling error on Void's profile page. No, thats not what I want you to see. :)
I uploaded the picture Josh drew me for Christmas. It can be found on the art page, and I think its lovely.. so show it some love!

I wouldn't call the site live yet, but there are a lot of pages up. There's a link to this journal (so friend it!), as well as a link to my new forum (so join it!). Most of the main characters profile pages are up.
All of the main character profile pages start off with a monologue from the point of view of that character, followed by a HeroMaker pic and their info. Just in case you weren't sure what that stuff in italics was.
I'm updating the story day by day, so its hard to upload it when its in a constant flux. But as soon as I hit a stopping point (read: temporary dead end) I'll upload the latest version.

I created this brand new community as a convenient way to post about progress on the website, story, and anything else related to my characters, instead of it getting lost in my actual journal. Join (or bookmark this page) and you'll get the info first hand on what's going on.
